DJs Deirdre Keelan and Dundisko - End of Summer Bash

At Spirit Store · Georges Quay, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 NR79

DJ decks set up for a club night in a music venue

What to Expect

The Spirit Store is best known as a live music room, so a full DJ night in the main venue is a break from its usual programme. This one puts Deirdre Keelan and Dundisko on the decks for an end-of-summer party built around Dundalk nostalgia, pitched by the venue at the crowd who remember Saturday nights at the rugby club. The billing is explicit about what it is trading on: big nostalgia from an era when everyone in the town seemed to know everyone, and one night back together.

Practically, that means a set weighted towards the pop, dance and indie records that filled Dundalk floors rather than a current chart night. Doors are at 8pm, which is earlier than a standard club start and closer to the Spirit Store’s normal gig timings, so the room fills from the off rather than after midnight. Tickets are €12.50 plus a €1.50 booking fee through the venue’s own site, and Spirit Store nights regularly sell out in advance, so booking beforehand is the safer route. The venue’s a91 kitchen serves street food from noon until 8pm from Wednesday to Saturday, which makes eating before the doors open straightforward without leaving the building. The bar runs to 12.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Getting There

The Spirit Store sits on Georges Quay at the harbour end of Dundalk, about ten minutes’ walk east of the Market Square down Quay Street. Clarke Station on the Dublin to Belfast line is roughly twenty minutes on foot, or a short taxi ride. There is on-street parking along the quay and at the nearby harbour, which is usually easier to find than town-centre spaces on a Saturday evening. Bus Eireann services to Dundalk stop on Long Walk in the town centre.
