Saturday Night Live Music at Longford Arms Hotel

At Longford Arms Hotel · 24 Main Street, Longford Town, Co. Longford

Hotel bar set up for a late night with a live band

What to Expect

The Longford Arms sits on Main Street and runs live music every Saturday night, making it the town-centre option for a night out that does not involve a nightclub door policy. The music happens in JP’s Bar, which serves food alongside craft beers, cocktails and Irish whiskey, and the hotel describes its weekend as a mix of live music and social dancing rather than DJ sets. The crowd tends to be broader in age than the clubs further along Main Street, with hotel guests mixing with locals in for the night.

The hotel itself has 58 en-suite bedrooms, including bespoke heritage rooms, plus a coffee shop, casual dining and a leisure club with a 22 metre saltwater pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. That combination makes a Saturday night here easy to build into a weekend rather than a single evening, and it is the reason the bar fills with a mix of residents and townspeople. Because the hotel runs a separate social dancing programme as well as the Saturday music, it is worth checking which night suits before booking: the dancing sessions draw a different, dedicated crowd and are listed separately.

Getting There

The Longford Arms is on Main Street in the middle of Longford town, a short walk from the bus and rail station off Battery Road. Longford is a stop on the Dublin to Sligo railway line and Bus Eireann services connect the town to Dublin, Mullingar, Athlone and Sligo, although the last departures are well before a Saturday night finishes. The hotel has parking, and there is on-street and car park space nearby, though both fill up on weekend evenings. Taxis rank in the town centre. Staying over is the simplest option for anyone travelling in from elsewhere in County Longford or from further afield.
