At Roisin Dubh · 9 Dominick Street Upper, Galway, Co. Galway
Just Like Heaven is an alternative 80s night rather than a general retro disco, and the record list makes the difference clear: The Cure, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order, Depeche Mode and The Smiths. The promoters frame it around post-punk and new wave, the tracks that defined a generation of outsiders, dreamers and romantics, and the room is set up for people who want to dance to those records properly rather than wait through them for a chart set.
It runs in the main room at Roisin Dubh on Dominick Street Upper, the venue that has anchored Galway’s West End late night scene for decades. Doors are at 11pm and tickets are €11 in advance. Entry is over 18s and ID is required. There is a birthday concession: anyone whose birthday falls between 18 September and 2 October gets in free, arranged in advance with the promoter. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite and through the Roisin Dubh box office, and the Friday club slots at this venue routinely sell out ahead of the door.
