Chillas Night lands at The Cellar on Eglinton Street on the last Saturday in August, with DJ Monese and DJ BLACK on the bill. Doors are at 9.30pm, the music runs from 10pm and the night finishes at 2am. The promoters pitch it as a relaxed late night rather than a hard club night, built around good tunes and a room where people can actually talk between records, which is a fair description of the downstairs space at The Cellar.
The Cellar sits just off Eyre Square and runs live entertainment every Friday and Saturday as standard, so the building is a known late night quantity in the city centre. This is a one off promoter night rather than part of that weekly programme, and tickets are €10 plus booking fee through Eventbrite. Entry is over 18s only and the venue operates a no refunds policy on this event, so buy with that in mind. Expect a four hour night and a crowd drawn largely from the city centre rather than the student end of town.
Eglinton Street runs off Eyre Square towards Woodquay, so this is about as central as Galway city gets. Ceannt Station and the Galway Coach Station on Fairgreen Road are a two to three minute walk, which makes it one of the easier late night venues to reach on the last train or coach in. The Eyre Square and Corbett Court multi storey car parks are nearby, and the Eyre Square taxi rank is around the corner at closing time.
