At Crown Live, Crown Quarter · Monck Street, Wexford Town, Co. Wexford, Y35 XC95
Extreme Rhythm Tribal House Live takes over Crown Live on Saturday 22 August, a dance night built around tribal house rather than the covers-band programme that fills most Saturday nights on Monck Street. Tribal house sits at the percussive end of house music, heavy on layered drums and long builds, and the room is set up for a standing crowd rather than seated tables.
Crown Live is the dedicated live and club space inside the Crown Quarter complex on Monck Street, alongside the Crown Front Bar, the covered Garden Bar and Kitty’s Bar, with Jasper’s Restaurant on site for food earlier in the evening. That means the night can be one part of a longer run through the building rather than a single-room event, and the complex runs a late bar on Saturdays. The venue has not published a door time or ticket price for this date, and tickets are sold in advance through Universe rather than on the door, so book online and check your ticket for the start time. It falls the night after Crown Live’s Leaving Cert Results Night, so the Monck Street strip is busy across both nights of that weekend. Phone the venue on 053 912 1480 if you need the age policy or door time confirmed before travelling.
Monck Street sits in the middle of Wexford town, a couple of minutes on foot from Main Street, the Bullring and the quays. O’Hanrahan station on Redmond Square is roughly ten minutes’ walk, with Irish Rail services from Dublin Connolly and Rosslare Europort. By car it is about an hour and forty minutes from Dublin on the M11 and N11, and around 45 minutes from Rosslare Europort on the N25. Parking on Monck Street itself is very limited, so use one of the town-centre car parks and arrange a taxi home.
