What to Expect

The Chasin’ Bull is a Main Street bar in Bundoran that bills itself as a live music and sports venue, with a dedicated sports bar, bar food and a stage that fills at weekends. The bar is open daily from 11am to 12:30am, so the music slot sits at the late end of the night rather than early: bands take the stage at 10pm and play until close to midnight.

The venue publishes a dated live music calendar rather than a fixed weekly resident, so the acts change from weekend to weekend. Through the rest of August the listings run Cassie on Saturday 15 August, Ríosca on Sunday 16 August, Cassie again on Saturday 22 August, Ríosca on Sunday 23 August, Bo Loughran on Saturday 29 August and Ríosca on Sunday 30 August. September moves to Saturdays only, with Bo Loughran on 5 September, Spirit of Freedom on 12 September, Boston on 19 September and Cassie on 26 September. Each entry is listed at 10pm.

Bundoran is a resort town and its nightlife swings hard with the season, so August weekends here are a very different proposition to a wet Saturday in October. The August and Sunday dates line up with the surf and holiday crowd; by late September the calendar has already thinned to one night a week.

Getting There

Bundoran is on the N15 at the southern tip of Donegal, about 30km from Sligo and 40km from Donegal Town, and Main Street is the town’s central spine, so the bar is a short walk from anywhere in the centre. Street parking and public car parks are within a few minutes’ walk, though on a summer Saturday the town fills up. Bus Eireann’s Sligo to Derry route serves Bundoran and stops in the town, but the last services run well before closing time, so plan a taxi or overnight stay if you are coming from outside the town.
