What to Expect

Crown Quarter runs its Cocktail Club in the Crown Bar four nights a week, Monday to Thursday, from 7pm to 10pm. It is a standing midweek fixture on the venue’s events calendar rather than a one-off, and it gives Monck Street something on the early part of the week, when most of Wexford town’s nightlife is quiet and the weekend live-music programme has not started.

The Crown Bar is one of several rooms in the Crown Quarter complex, which also holds the street-facing Crown Front Bar, the covered Garden Bar and Kitty’s Bar, with Jasper’s Restaurant on site for food. The venue describes the Crown Bar as its cocktail bar, so the Cocktail Club is the dedicated window when that side of the operation is the focus. Crown Quarter has not published a drinks list, prices or any offer detail for the Cocktail Club on its events page, so treat the 7pm to 10pm slot as the confirmed part and ring 053 912 1480 for anything more specific before planning a group around it. The same building runs Music Bingo on Wednesdays from 9pm, free entry, which overlaps the last hour of the Cocktail Club, and Friday night barbecues through August ahead of the 10pm live music in the Garden Bar. Booking is worth doing for larger groups, particularly across the October festival fortnight when Wexford Festival Opera and the Wexford Spiegeltent Festival fill the town.

Getting There

Monck Street is in the centre of Wexford town, a couple of minutes on foot from Main Street, the Bullring and the quays. O’Hanrahan station on Redmond Square is about ten minutes’ walk, with Irish Rail services from Dublin Connolly and Rosslare Europort. By road it is roughly an hour and forty minutes from Dublin on the M11 and N11, and around 45 minutes from Rosslare Europort on the N25. Midweek parking in the town-centre car parks is straightforward, but Monck Street itself has very few spaces of its own.
