Gallery Nightclub at the Queens Hotel, Ennis

At Queens Hotel Ennis · Abbey Street, Ennis, Co. Clare

Nightclub dance floor at the Queens Hotel on Abbey Street, Ennis, County Clare

What to Expect

The Queens Hotel on Abbey Street runs the largest late-night venue in Ennis, and effectively the only dedicated nightclub in the town centre. The club is spread over two dance floors with seven indoor bars, an outdoor bar and a terrace area, and the hotel describes the music policy as commercial, which in practice means chart and dance sets from resident DJs rather than a specialist club night. Reserved areas can be booked, and the venue takes a steady trade in birthday, hen and stag groups alongside the general weekend crowd.

It opens as a late-night music venue at weekends, running on from the hotel’s other bars rather than standing alone. Cruises Bar, part of the same building, runs traditional music and live music sessions through the week and is the usual warm-up before the club opens, so a night here often starts with a trad session downstairs and finishes on the dance floor. Admission is charged on the door and varies by night and by season, and the club is busiest across the summer, the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking weekends in September and the run-up to Christmas.

Getting There

The Queens Hotel is on Abbey Street in the middle of Ennis, a two-minute walk from O’Connell Square and within easy reach of every town-centre pub, hotel and restaurant. Ennis sits on the M18 between Limerick and Galway, and the bus and rail station on Station Road is about ten minutes’ walk away. The Friar’s Walk and Market car parks are the closest public parking. Late-night public transport out of Ennis is limited, so taxis rank on O’Connell Street and around the square at closing time.
