The Abyss Nightclub at Myles Creek, Kilkee

At Myles Creek Bar and Guesthouse · O'Curry Street, Kilkee, Co. Clare

The Abyss nightclub at Myles Creek bar on O'Curry Street in Kilkee, County Clare

What to Expect

The Abyss is the nightclub attached to Myles Creek Bar and Guesthouse on O’Curry Street in Kilkee, and the venue describes it as the only licensed nightclub in West Clare. That makes it the default late-night option for a stretch of coast running from Kilrush and Doonbeg up towards Quilty and Miltown Malbay, and it is busiest across the summer season when Kilkee’s population swells with holidaymakers, the Currach Regatta and the beach crowd.

Myles Creek itself works as a full-day venue rather than a club with a bar bolted on. Breakfast is served from 9am every day and lunch and dinner dishes run until 7pm, and there is guesthouse accommodation upstairs, so the building takes people from morning coffee through to closing time. The nightclub opens on selected nights rather than nightly, and the venue does not publish a fixed weekly schedule online. Anyone travelling specifically for it should ring ahead on 065 905 6900 to confirm the night is running, particularly outside July and August when West Clare’s late-night trade drops away sharply.

Getting There

Kilkee is on the West Clare coast, reached on the N67 from Kilrush, about 13km away, and roughly 70km south-west of Ennis. O’Curry Street runs back from the seafront in the middle of town, so Myles Creek is within walking distance of the horseshoe beach, the pubs on the strand line and most of the town’s guesthouses. On-street parking is free but fills quickly on summer weekends, with additional parking near the seafront. Public transport is limited in the evenings, so a taxi or an overnight stay is the practical option.
