At Bridge House Bar · Bridge Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly
Saturday is the Bridge House Bar’s headline night, billed by the venue as the Midlands Biggest Night Out. The format is live music in the main bar followed by a DJ, with the late licence running Thursday to Sunday, so Saturday goes on well past normal closing. The bar sits on Bridge Street in the middle of Tullamore, in the same complex as the Bridge House Hotel and the Palace nightclub, and the three work as one continuous night for most of the crowd: bar first, then across to Palace when it opens at 11pm.
The bar rotates its live acts week to week rather than running a residency, so the band changes but the shape of the night does not. The room was refurbished recently and is one of the larger bar spaces in the county town, with the Penthouse above it, a separate floor with its own dance floor and bar that is used for private parties and group bookings. Because Saturday is the busiest night, tables go early and the venue takes reservations by phone. The bar serves food earlier in the week, so Saturday is music-led from the start of the evening. Line-ups are posted on the venue’s own channels rather than being fixed months ahead, so check what is on before you travel in.
The Bridge House Bar is on Bridge Street in Tullamore town centre, next to the Grand Canal harbour and a short walk from the town’s hotels and restaurants. There is no dedicated bar car park, but town centre public car parks are close and taxis rank in the centre at weekends. Tullamore railway station, on the Dublin Heuston to Galway line, is roughly 20 minutes on foot. More listings for Tullamore and across Co. Offaly.
