At Clogher Valley Livestock Producers · Station Road, Clogher, Co. Tyrone, BT76 0AH
Clogher Mart, trading as Clogher Valley Livestock Producers, is the busiest sale yard in south Tyrone and one of the three livestock marts working in the county. Saturday is cattle day, and rather than one long queue through a single ring the mart runs several rings in parallel through the morning. Bullocks and the dairy ring open at 10am, weanlings and drop calves follow at 10.30am, the heifer ring starts at 11am, the cow sale runs from 10am, and the suckler cow and breeding bull ring opens at 12 noon. That staggered timetable means the yard is at full tilt for most of the morning, with buyers moving between pens to look over entries before their ring is called.
The second fixed date in the week is the sheep sale, which runs every Thursday evening with bidding from 7pm and pulls a different crowd of sheep farmers and dealers from across the Clogher Valley and the Monaghan and Fermanagh border country. Online bidding is available for both sales for buyers who cannot travel. The mart sits a few miles from the Clogher Valley Show grounds at Augher and it functions as the trading centre for a heavily agricultural stretch of Tyrone, so the canteen and the ringside are as much a weekly social fixture as a commercial one.
The mart is on Station Road in Clogher village, just off the A4 through the Clogher Valley between Ballygawley and Fivemiletown, and it is signposted from the village centre. There is parking on site for cars and for livestock trailers. Clogher is about twenty minutes from Dungannon by road and a similar run from Enniskillen, and the village shops and pubs are within walking distance of the yard.
