Ardmore Farmers Market

At Ardmore Beach Car Park · Duffcarrick, Ardmore, Co. Waterford

Market stalls beside the beach car park in Ardmore village, County Waterford

What to Expect

Ardmore Farmers Market sets up every Sunday beside the beach car park at Duffcarrick, on the edge of the village. It is an independently run market rather than part of any national network, and its own listing describes it as the largest market in the country by stall numbers. The season is fixed: the market trades through the summer and closes from October to May, so the Sundays between now and the end of September are the last of the 2026 run. The seaside setting, with the strand on one side and St Declan’s round tower on the hill above, gives it a different feel to the county’s inland markets.

The stall mix runs wider than a typical village market. Growers bring fresh vegetables, and there is organic lamb in burger and sausage form alongside craft, art and jewellery stands. Hot food covers Mexican and Hungarian cooking as well as the more usual tea, coffee and salad counters. Traders sell direct to the public rather than through a cooperative, so the line-up shifts a little week to week depending on who is trading and what is in season. In August it draws a mixed crowd of locals and holidaymakers staying in the village, and most people treat it as a Sunday morning out rather than a quick shop.

Getting There

Ardmore is signposted off the N25 between Dungarvan and Youghal, roughly 20 minutes by car from Dungarvan and about 45 minutes from Waterford city. The market is at the beach car park at the bottom of the village, so follow the signs for the strand rather than the round tower. There is parking on site at the beach, though it fills quickly on fine summer Sundays, and the village centre is a short walk uphill.
