Free Over 55's Climate Course

Sligo County Council’s Age Friendly Programme runs a free climate course for people over 55, held weekly for six weeks at the Abbeyquarter Community Centre in Sligo town. The course begins on Tuesday 15 September 2026 and runs through to Tuesday 20 October, meeting each week from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It is a small, practical adult-education offering rather than a one-off talk, aimed specifically at an older cohort who may not otherwise come across climate-focused courses through mainstream adult education channels.

What to expect

Across the six Tuesday sessions, the course covers climate topics in a classroom-style setting at the community centre, with the Age Friendly Programme’s usual focus on accessible, practical content rather than technical or academic material. The venue is used regularly for other Age Friendly and community programming, so it is a familiar meeting point for many local residents already.
