At Council Chamber, Aras Contae an Chlair · New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare
The dates and programme below describe a previous edition.
The Ennis Municipal District Committee meets on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, at 3pm in the Council Chamber at Aras Contae an Chlair, Ennis. This is the district-level committee that handles local matters for the Ennis area specifically, sitting apart from the full county council’s own monthly meeting.
The committee’s published schedule sets its meeting for the second Tuesday of each month, except August, which puts October’s sitting on the 13th. Business at this level typically covers matters local to the Ennis municipal area - roads, planning issues, amenities and community grants - rather than the countywide policy items that come before the full council. Elected members for the Ennis district sit on the committee and members of the public are free to attend and observe. As with the full council, agendas are published on the council website ahead of each sitting and minutes are posted once adopted, so the record is available afterwards for anyone who cannot make the meeting itself. Municipal district structures like this one were introduced to give more localised decision-making within each county council area, sitting between individual councillors and the full county council, and Ennis is one of several such districts covering County Clare.
Aras Contae an Chlair is on New Road in Ennis town centre, a short walk from Bus Eireann services and the town’s car parks, in the same building used for the full county council’s own monthly meeting.
Ennis is Clare’s county town, its council chamber just off the town centre and an easy stop alongside the shops and pubs on O’Connell Street. There is more to see in Ennis and across Co. Clare.
