What to Expect

Rossnowlagh Farmers Market runs every Friday from 10am to 1pm in the council car park above Rossnowlagh’s Blue Flag strand, one of the best known beaches on the south Donegal coast. Traders sell local and organic produce, including vegetables, salads and microgreens, alongside home baking, cut flowers and other Irish-made goods. It is a small community-run market rather than a commercial operation.

Its position is what shapes the crowd. The car park serves the beach, so a Friday morning here mixes locals doing a weekly shop with surfers coming off the water and families down for the day. Late summer is the market’s peak, when the growing season and the holiday season overlap, and the stall list is at its longest. Rossnowlagh is only ten minutes from Ballyshannon and about the same from Donegal Town, which puts it within reach of a fair slice of south Donegal without much of a drive.

Getting There

Rossnowlagh is on the coast road between Ballyshannon and Donegal Town, signposted off the N15, and is realistically reached by car. The market sets up in the council car park that serves the beach, so parking is on site, though spaces fill quickly on a bright summer Friday when the car park is also handling beachgoers and surfers. There is no rail service and no scheduled bus stop at the beach itself, so most visitors drive or come as part of a wider day trip from Ballyshannon, Bundoran or Donegal Town, all within about fifteen minutes.
