Ramelton Country Market runs every Saturday from 10:30am to midday inside Ramelton Town Hall, in the middle of one of Donegal’s best preserved Georgian towns. Ramelton sits where the River Lennon meets Lough Swilly and grew as a trading port, leaving behind a run of Georgian merchant houses and stone quayside warehouses that still line the waterfront. The Town Hall stands among them, so the market is a working part of the town’s old commercial core rather than an add-on at the edge of it. The ninety-minute slot is short, which is standard for the country market network, and stalls sell out of the popular baking early, so arriving near the opening time is worth doing if there is something specific you want.

Getting There

Ramelton is about fifteen minutes from Letterkenny on the R245, heading north towards Milford and the Fanad peninsula. The Town Hall is in the centre of the town among the Georgian buildings, and there is no dedicated market car park, so visitors use on-street parking along the main streets, which is generally manageable for a short Saturday morning slot. Local Link services connect Ramelton to Letterkenny. The quayside and the old warehouses are a couple of minutes’ walk from the hall, so a market visit pairs easily with a walk along the river.
