Meath County Council Budget Meeting 2026

What to Expect

Meath County Council’s full membership meets in the Council Chamber at Buvinda House, Navan on Monday 23 November 2026 at 1.30pm for the statutory Budget Meeting, the single most consequential meeting on the council’s annual calendar. This is the meeting at which elected members formally adopt the council’s budget for the following year, setting the Local Property Tax variation, the level of rates charged to businesses, and the funding allocated across housing, roads, community and amenity services for 2027. Unlike the routine ordinary monthly meetings, the Budget Meeting is preceded by weeks of committee-level and party-group scrutiny of the draft figures prepared by council management, and the meeting itself is where amendments are proposed and voted on before the final budget is signed off. Like all council meetings it is open to the public gallery, and the draft budget book is published online in the weeks beforehand for anyone who wants to see the detail before the vote. It follows pre-budget scrutiny at municipal district level, including a dedicated pre-budget session held by Navan Municipal District on 11 November 2026, part of the wider process by which each district’s priorities are fed into the county-wide figures before the full council votes.
