At The Ellison · Lannagh Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Erin International brings its Wills Workshop to The Ellison on the Lannagh Road in Castlebar on Thursday 5 November 2026. It is a full day, running 9am to 4.30pm, aimed squarely at solicitors and legal practitioners who draft wills and handle probate files. The commercial pitch is straightforward: the day carries six general CPD hours, completed entirely in person, which covers a practitioner’s whole group study requirement for the year in one sitting.
The teaching follows the life of a file rather than a syllabus. It starts with taking instructions, moves through what the Probate Office actually requires, and finishes with reviewing a final draft. Delegates work through a real instruction sheet in small groups and cover succession law points including advancement, debt on property and predeceased issue. The stated outcomes are precise instruction taking, compliant drafting, handling cross-border assets, applying the rules on intestacy and building a usable precedent library. The day closes with a group exercise involving foreign assets and charitable bequests, with practitioners circulating between the tables. It is led by Laurie Darcy and by Caroline McCall, a practising solicitor with more than twenty years in the Probate Office.
The Ellison is on the Lannagh Road on the southern side of Castlebar, close to the Lough Lannagh amenity area and a short drive from the N5 and N84 approaches to the town. There is parking at the venue. Castlebar town centre and Market Square are around 15 minutes away on foot. Castlebar railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Westport line is roughly a ten minute walk, which makes the day workable for practitioners travelling by train from Dublin or from Westport.
