What to Expect

Larchill Arcadian Gardens holds a poultry sale twice a year, and the autumn edition falls on Saturday 22 August 2026. The gates open at 10am and the sale runs until 2pm. Adult admission is €6, which is the higher of the venue’s market admissions and reflects the scale of the poultry event compared with the €2 country market and car boot mornings held on the same grounds.

Poultry sales of this kind are the standard way small flock keepers in the eastern counties buy and sell birds outside the mart system. Sellers bring stock in crates and pens, buyers walk the rows, and deals are done directly rather than through an auctioneer. Larchill is a working estate as well as an ornamental garden, which is why the site suits a sale morning of this type. If you are travelling to buy, bring your own carriers and cash, and arrive early rather than late, since the best stock generally moves in the first hour.

Getting There

Larchill sits outside Kilcock in the north west corner of County Kildare, close to the Meath border. From Dublin or the midlands take the M4 and exit at junction 8 for Kilcock, then follow the local signposts to the gardens. Kilcock railway station is on the Dublin Connolly to Maynooth and Longford commuter line, but the gardens are a few kilometres beyond the village so driving is the sensible choice, particularly if you are carrying birds home. Parking is on site and free.
