At Galway Racecourse, Ballybrit · The Racecourse, Ballybrit, Galway, Co. Galway, H91 V654
Wedfest is the Weddings.ie roadshow and the Galway edition takes over Ballybrit racecourse for a Sunday afternoon in early September. The organisers list hundreds of wedding exhibitors across the floor, covering wedding cars, cakes, suits, photographers, venues and flowers, which makes it closer to a full trade fair than a handful of stands in a hotel function room. Couples use it to compare suppliers side by side and to book in person, and most exhibitors bring sample work rather than brochures alone.
Two fashion shows break up the day, one at 1pm and a second at 2.30pm, showing bridal and menswear collections. A main stage runs live bands, singers and DJs before and after the fashion shows, so a fair chunk of the programme doubles as a way to audition wedding bands and DJs on the day. Admission is free and the racecourse has free parking, which is unusual for an event of this size in Galway. Registration is through Eventbrite.
Ballybrit sits about 4km northeast of Galway city centre, signposted off the N6 near the Galway Retail Park and Parkmore. The racecourse has extensive free parking on site, the same fields used during race week, so driving is the simplest option and there is no need to hunt for city centre parking. City Direct and Bus Eireann services run along the Ballybrit and Parkmore corridor from Eyre Square, and taxis from the city centre take roughly ten minutes outside peak traffic. Cyclists and walkers can follow the Ballybrit road out from Renmore or Castlepark.
