TU Dublin’s university-wide CAO Open Day runs across two days at the Grangegorman campus in early December, bringing together undergraduate courses from all of the university’s campuses in one place. It’s aimed at Leaving Certificate students weighing up CAO choices, along with parents and guardians, and gives a chance to walk the campus, talk to current staff and get a feel for courses before application deadlines.
Course information stands, campus tours and opportunities to speak directly with academic staff about specific programmes, run across the Grangegorman campus buildings. Friday is a shorter session aimed at school groups and those who can attend on a weekday; Saturday runs slightly later and suits families visiting together. Content covers the full range of TU Dublin’s undergraduate offering, not only courses based at Grangegorman itself.
Grangegorman is TU Dublin’s main campus, built on the site of the former St Brendan’s Hospital, and it houses a large share of the university’s arts, humanities, science, health and built environment programmes, so this open day is one of the better opportunities to see a large cross-section of courses in one visit rather than travelling between separate campuses.
TU Dublin Grangegorman has its own stop on the Luas Red Line, right at the edge of the campus, making it one of the easiest college campuses in the city to reach by public transport. Dublin Bus routes through Phibsborough and Stoneybatter also serve the area closely.
Phibsborough and Stoneybatter’s cafes and shops are both a short walk from the campus, worth a stop before or after the open day. There’s more to explore across Co. Dublin.
