What to Expect

Letterkenny Community Centre runs a car boot sale on Pearse Road every Saturday, opening at 7:30am and trading through until 4pm. That is a long day by car boot standards, and it means the sale has two distinct halves: the early scramble from half seven, when dealers and regulars work the pitches as sellers are still unpacking, and a slower browse-and-chat middle of the day once the crowd thins out.

The centre added an indoor section in 2026, running alongside the outdoor pitches rather than replacing them. That change matters in Donegal, where an outdoor-only sale can be washed out for weeks at a stretch through autumn and winter, and it gives sellers with more fragile stock somewhere reliable to set up. Between them the two sections carry the usual car boot mix of household goods, clothes, tools, toys, books and bric-a-brac, with the stock turning over completely from one Saturday to the next.

The sale is run by the community centre itself, a not-for-profit that also runs classes, sports and community activities on the same site, so takings from the pitches feed back into the centre rather than into a commercial operator.

Getting There

Pearse Road runs south out of Letterkenny town centre, and the community centre is a short walk or a couple of minutes’ drive from the Main Street, with on-site parking. Letterkenny is the best-connected town in the county: Bus Eireann routes reach it from Dublin, Sligo and Derry, and Local Link services run in from across Donegal, with the bus centre close enough to walk from. If you are selling rather than buying you will want a car, since pitches are sold by the vehicle.
