What to Expect

Wexford Library runs a young adult book club for readers aged 13 to 17, meeting on the last Friday of each month from 4pm to 5pm at the library on Mallin Street. The next meeting in the autumn term is Friday 25 September 2026. There is no charge.

Teen book clubs sit awkwardly between children’s programming and adult reading groups, and the library treats this one as its own thing. The group reads and discusses young adult fiction, with members having a say in what gets picked, and the hour is run as a conversation rather than a class. For teenagers who read heavily but have no one their own age to talk to about it, a monthly hour with other readers is the whole point. The library can also order in titles through the county service if the group settles on something the Wexford branch does not hold.

Registration is required online through the library service rather than simply turning up, which keeps the group at a workable size. The last Friday slot means it runs at the end of the school week, and the timing is a straightforward one for teenagers coming into town from the secondary schools around Wexford.

Getting There

Wexford Library sits on Mallin Street at the north end of the town, close to Redmond Square and a short walk from the Quay. Drivers on the N11 or N25 should follow town centre signs and park at Redmond Square or on the Quay, both a few minutes away on foot. Wexford O’Hanrahan railway station is beside Redmond Place on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line, useful for teenagers travelling in from Enniscorthy. Bus Eireann and Wexford Bus services stop at Redmond Square and along the Quay. Local school bus routes finish in the town centre, which makes the Friday afternoon slot easy to reach without a lift.
