What to Expect

Wells House and Gardens runs its Halloween programme across the mid-term break, from 24 to 30 October 2026, spread over a 470 acre estate in north Wexford. The estate describes it as a day of ghostly surprises rather than a scare attraction, which puts it firmly at the younger end of the Halloween market.

The core of it is a spooky arboretum trail with interactive characters stationed along the route, a ride on the Wells Express train, and a pumpkin patch where children pick their own pumpkin to bring home. Mrs Stone’s Cafe on the estate serves seasonal food through the week. New for 2026, the venue is adding further seasonal displays and interactive experiences around the property, so the trail is not a straight repeat of previous years.

Wells House is also home to the Fairy Walk and Mogue’s Enchanted Walk, woodland trails dotted with fairy doors and a resident Gruffalo, which stay open alongside the Halloween programme and give younger children a second route to walk if the spooky trail is too much. The house itself, gardens, craft studios and animal areas make up the rest of the estate. Opening is from 10am to 5pm.

Getting There

Wells House and Gardens sits in the north Wexford countryside near Gorey, signposted off the local roads between Gorey and Ballyedmond. Drivers from Dublin or Wexford leave the M11 at the Gorey junctions and follow the brown tourist signs for Wells House. There is ample free parking on the estate. Public transport does not reach the gates, so a car is effectively necessary. Allow around fifteen minutes’ drive from Gorey town and around fifty minutes from Wexford town. Estate paths are gravel and grass, so bring boots for late October.
