Terenure Library Junior Book Club

Terenure Library runs a Junior Book Club for children aged 8 to 12, meeting on the second Tuesday of the month. The club does not run in July and August, so the September date marks its return for the new school year.

What to expect

Members discuss a chosen book each month in an after-school session, with copies generally available to borrow at the library ahead of the meeting. It suits children who enjoy reading and want to talk about books with others their own age in a low-pressure, informal setting rather than a classroom environment. New members are welcome to join at any monthly session, and there is no need to have attended before or to have finished the book cover to cover.

The club sits alongside Terenure Library’s separate Children’s Book Club for 6 to 8 year olds, giving the branch two age-appropriate reading groups for younger members through the school year. Parents dropping off older children for the session can use the time to browse the adult shelves or wait in the library itself, since sessions typically run for around 45 minutes to an hour.

Terenure Library is on Templeogue Road in Dublin 6W, close to Terenure village. It is served by Dublin Bus routes along Templeogue Road and Terenure Road. There is no Luas or DART stop nearby, so bus or car is the practical way to travel, with some on-street parking available near the library. The library is a short walk from most of the surrounding residential streets in Terenure and Templeogue, making it an easy after-school stop.
