Kids Walls at City Square, Waterford Walls 2026

At City Square · City Square Shopping Centre, Waterford, Co. Waterford

Children painting at a free Kids Walls art session in Waterford city

What to Expect

Kids Walls is the free children’s strand of the Waterford Walls street art festival, and it runs at City Square on Saturday 15 August 2026 from 10am to 12pm. It is a drop-in session rather than a booked workshop, so families can arrive at any point in the two hours. The festival ran the same activity at City Square on Saturday 8 August, and this is the second and final Saturday morning of the 2026 edition.

The session gives younger children their own painting surface and materials at a covered city-centre location, which keeps it running whatever the August weather does. It sits at the family-friendly end of a festival otherwise built around professional muralists: 52 street artists from across the world are painting across Waterford city between 7 and 16 August 2026, and the walls going up around the Cultural Quarter, the Apple Market and the Mall are the backdrop to the whole weekend. Later the same day, the festival closes out its programme with a free street party at Thomas Street Pocket Park from midday and DJ sets at the Festival Hub from 2pm, so the morning session slots neatly into a full day in town. There is no charge and no need to book.

Getting There

City Square is in the middle of Waterford city, off Broad Street and Barronstrand Street, with its own multi-storey car park accessed from Lombard Street. Plunkett Station is about ten minutes’ walk across Rice Bridge and Bus Eireann and Local Link services stop on the Quay two minutes away, so the session is straightforward to reach from Tramore, Dungarvan, Kilkenny or Wexford without a car. Drivers coming in on the N25 should follow signs for the city centre. Being indoors within the shopping centre, it is buggy-friendly and sheltered.
