At Pinegrove Day Care, Waterford and Causeway Tennis Club, Abbeyside · Pinegrove Day Care, Waterford City, Co. Waterford X91 ET10
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland holds its national Memory Walk on Sunday 20 September 2026, with more than forty locations taking part around the country. County Waterford has two, and both step off at 11am. In the city, walkers gather at Pinegrove Day Care and follow a 3km route to the People’s Park, with a longer option for anyone who wants it, and there are refreshments and music back at the centre afterwards. In the west of the county the walk starts from Causeway Tennis Club in Abbeyside, Dungarvan, and covers 4.5km.
The walk raises money for the Society’s dementia services, including day care, home care and family supports, and for many people it doubles as a way of remembering someone. Registration is €20 for adults and €5 for children, handled online through Enthuse. Sponsorship cards and fundraising pages are set up at the same time. Both routes are on flat ground and are suitable for buggies and for anyone walking at an easy pace.
Pinegrove Day Care is in Waterford city within walking distance of the People’s Park, and the nearest public car parking is around the Park and the city centre a short walk away. Abbeyside sits on the eastern side of Dungarvan harbour, just over the causeway from Grattan Square, with Causeway Tennis Club signposted off the Abbeyside road and parking nearby. Dungarvan is on the N25 between Waterford and Youghal and is served by Bus Éireann and Expressway routes.
