Friends of the SIVUH, the fundraising charity for the South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital, holds a table quiz at Nemo Rangers GAA Club in Ballinlough on Friday 16 October 2026. Doors open at 7pm with the quiz starting at 7:30pm and running to about 11:30pm. Teams of up to four compete over a run of general knowledge rounds, with teams of two also welcome. The night is run as a straightforward social fundraiser rather than a formal gala, with the emphasis on a fun night out that happens to raise money for the hospital.
Patrick Ahern Entertainment provides the MC and music for the evening, and O’Reilly’s Fish & Chips is sponsoring free finger food and pizza through the night, so quiz-goers are fed as well as tested. Free parking is available at the GAA club. All proceeds go directly to Friends of the SIVUH, which funds equipment, patient services and other needs at the South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital beyond what the HSE budget covers - a role played by “friends of the hospital” charities at voluntary hospitals across Cork and elsewhere in Ireland.
The event is open to adults aged 18 and over. Booking is through Eventbrite, and the organisers note refunds are accepted up to seven days before the night, so teams can commit early without losing a deposit if plans change.
Nemo Rangers GAA Club is on Mount Vernon Crescent in Ballinlough, on Cork’s southside, a short drive from the city centre. Free parking is available at the club, and Ballinlough is served by regular Bus Éireann city routes from the centre.
