Afternoon Tea at Villa Rose Hotel and Spa

At Villa Rose Hotel and Spa · Main Street, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal, F93 C2CF

Afternoon tea stand with scones and sandwiches at the Villa Rose Hotel

What to Expect

The Villa Rose Hotel and Spa on Ballybofey’s Main Street serves afternoon tea every day from 12:30pm to 4pm, usually in the Lobby Lounge and moving into the restaurant when the lounge is full. The spread is homemade scones with jam and cream, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, and a selection of sweet items, with freshly brewed tea or coffee. It is built for a long sit rather than a quick stop, and the daily schedule makes it one of the more flexible afternoon teas in central Donegal, since it does not tie you to a weekend sitting.

Five versions are available. The Classic Afternoon Tea is €25 per person. The Sparkling Afternoon Tea, which adds a glass of prosecco, is €29. The Vegan and Gluten-Free versions are €28 each and are built to the same standard as the classic rather than treated as substitutions. A Children’s Afternoon Tea is €15.

The hotel also packages the tea with its spa. The Afternoon Escape combines afternoon tea with access to the thermal suite for €50, available Monday to Friday. The Afternoon Delight adds spa treatments and runs €130 midweek or €145 at weekends. Either turns a lunch into a half-day, which is worth knowing if you are travelling from elsewhere in the county.

Getting There

The Villa Rose is on Main Street in Ballybofey, in central Donegal on the N15, about twenty-five minutes south of Letterkenny and thirty north of Donegal Town. The town has on-street parking and a public car park close to the hotel. Bus Eireann services running between Letterkenny, Donegal Town and Sligo stop in Ballybofey, so this is one of the few Donegal afternoon teas genuinely reachable without a car.
