What to Expect

The Art of Play Club runs across three separate Saturday mornings at Strule Arts Centre in Omagh, led by artist Conor O’Kane. Week one is on Saturday 12 September 2026 from 10am to 12pm and focuses on dance. Week two follows on Saturday 3 October and week three on Saturday 14 November, with the sessions alternating between dance and art across the run. Each is booked and paid for separately at £15.

The club is aimed at 7 to 15 year olds and the emphasis is on experimenting rather than producing a finished piece. Strule describes it as an “action-packed morning of creative play” where children are encouraged to “make decisions, take risks and enjoy the process of making art and dancing”. No prior experience of either is needed, and all materials are provided. Because dance is part of it, comfortable clothing is the practical requirement rather than anything specialised.

Getting There

Strule Arts Centre is on Townhall Square in the middle of Omagh, beside the Strule river and a short walk from High Street. Omagh sits on the A5 between Derry and Aughnacloy and the A32 from Enniskillen, roughly 70 miles from Belfast and 34 from Derry. Council car parks at Kevlin Road, Church Street and the Showgrounds are all a few minutes away on foot, which suits a Saturday morning drop-off. Omagh bus centre on Mountjoy Road is five minutes’ walk from the door and is served by Ulsterbus local routes and Translink Goldline coaches.
