Saturday Art Club at Wexford Arts Centre

At Wexford Arts Centre · Cornmarket, Wexford Town, Co. Wexford

Children working on drawings in a gallery education space

What to Expect

Saturday Art Club is the older sibling of Wexford Arts Centre’s children’s art programme, running as a six week Saturday term from 5 September to 10 October 2026. It sits alongside Little Artist Club, which covers ages 5 to 7 in the earlier slot on the same mornings, so families with children of different ages can often do both in one trip into town.

The Arts Centre’s children’s courses share an approach. The children work across drawing, painting, collage, print and three dimensional work rather than sticking to one medium for a term, and the galleries downstairs are treated as part of the classroom. Whatever exhibition is hanging at the time feeds into the work, so a term is shaped partly by the programme in the building. The autumn 2026 term runs alongside the exhibition Memory of a Free Festival.

The class is tutor-led with a small group, and the aim is to build confidence and let children develop their own way of making rather than produce a set of identical pieces. Start time, age range and the term price are held on the Arts Centre’s booking page rather than the listing, so check there before booking.

Getting There

Wexford Arts Centre is on Cornmarket in the pedestrian centre of Wexford town, in the eighteenth century Market House, a short walk up from the Quay. Drivers on the N11 from Gorey or the N25 from Rosslare and New Ross should follow town centre signs and use the Quay car parks or Redmond Square rather than trying to park in the lanes around Cornmarket. Wexford O’Hanrahan railway station on Redmond Place is about ten minutes’ walk, on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line. Bus Eireann and Wexford Bus services stop on the Quay. Saturday morning parking in town is busy, so leave extra time.
