Children's Art Workshops with Ciara and Monika, Ballina Arts Centre

At Ballina Arts Centre · Barrett Street, Ballina, Co. Mayo, F26 NW83

Children's art workshop room at Ballina Arts Centre

What to Expect

Ballina Arts Centre runs weekly children’s art workshops with artists Ciara O’Hara and Monika Brzozka, taught in the Art Workshop Room on the first floor of the centre. The autumn term starts on Wednesday 9 September 2026, and a second seven-week term runs on Wednesdays from 4 November to 16 December 2026.

Two class slots run each Wednesday, one from 3.40pm to 4.40pm and one from 5pm to 6pm, so families can pick whichever suits the school run. The classes are open to all primary school aged children, aged 5 and up, and all materials are provided. Ciara O’Hara holds an honours degree in Fine Art Printmaking and a master’s in Cultural Policy. Monika Brzozka works in digital illustration and traditional watercolour. Each term costs €95 per child plus booking fees, booked as a block through the arts centre ticketing system rather than week by week. Parents or guardians handle drop-off and collection.

Getting There

Ballina Arts Centre is on Barrett Street in the middle of Ballina, walkable from the main shopping streets and the River Moy quays, which makes the after-school slot manageable on foot for families in the town. There is on-street parking on Barrett Street and public car parks a few minutes away, though the 3.40pm class coincides with school collection traffic, so allow extra time. Ballina is in north Mayo, about 40 minutes from Castlebar via the N5 and N57, 20 minutes from Foxford, and an hour from Sligo on the N59. Bus Eireann services connect Ballina with Castlebar, Sligo, Galway and Dublin.
