At Claremorris Town Hall Theatre · Town Hall Road, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, F12 X4E3
Abu! Performing Arts stage Bugsy Malone at Claremorris Town Hall Theatre on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August 2026, with both performances starting at 7pm and doors opening at 6pm. The show runs 90 minutes plus a 20 minute interval.
Bugsy Malone is the stage version of the 1976 film, set in 1920s Chicago and carried by a jazz and swing score written by the composer of The Muppet Movie. The plot follows Bugsy, a broke boxer, and his romance with the aspiring singer Blousey against a backdrop of gang warfare. The gangs fight with splurge guns that fire cream instead of bullets, which is the reason the show has stayed a favourite with younger audiences and the reason the front rows are the fun ones. Seating in the Town Hall is unreserved.
Claremorris Town Hall Theatre is on Town Hall Road, a two minute walk from the square and the main street, with on-street parking and public parking nearby. Claremorris is one of the easier Mayo towns to reach: it sits on the N17 between Galway and Sligo and on the N60 to Castlebar, so it is about 25 minutes from Castlebar, 20 minutes from Ballinrobe, 20 minutes from Ballyhaunis and roughly an hour from Galway city on the N17 and M17. Claremorris railway station is on the Dublin Heuston to Westport line and is a short walk from the town centre, and Bus Eireann services on the Galway to Sligo route stop in the town.
