What to Expect

Chef Elizabeth Dayspring, who founded Taste of Culture, hosts a three-hour African and Afro-Caribbean culinary evening at An Grianan in Termonfeckin on Friday 28 August 2026. The format runs a tasting menu of African and Afro-Caribbean dishes alongside cultural storytelling and a business networking element, so it sits between a supper club and an industry evening rather than being purely one or the other.

The networking half is aimed at people working in or around food: hospitality, tourism and food businesses, plus anyone interested in international collaboration in the sector. The stated pitch is that the food carries the conversation, with the dishes and the stories behind them used to open up talk about heritage and cross-border trade. An Grianan is the Irish Countrywomen’s Association’s adult education centre outside Termonfeckin, a Georgian house with a long history of running residential cookery and craft courses, which makes it a fitting room for a food-led evening. Getting There

Termonfeckin is about six kilometres north east of Drogheda on the R166, on the road out towards Clogherhead and the Louth coast. An Grianan sits just outside the village and has its own grounds and parking, which is the practical way to arrive. Coming off the M1, exit at junction 10 for Drogheda and follow signs for Termonfeckin. There is a local bus service between Drogheda and Termonfeckin, but evening services are limited, so a car or taxi from Drogheda is the safer plan for a 5pm start.
