At Ardee, Drogheda and Dunleer Libraries · Ardee, Drogheda and Dunleer, Co. Louth
Louth Library Service is running its Little Library Book Bag session with The Mobile Music School on Tuesday 18 August 2026, at three branches on the same day. The sessions are aimed specifically at children who will start school in September, and the timing is deliberate: they land in the last fortnight of the summer holidays, when parents are trying to build a bit of routine and confidence before the first morning of junior infants.
The Mobile Music School delivers an activity based session rather than a lesson. Children are led through music making with percussion, movement and singing, and the emphasis is on group participation rather than technique. It pairs with the Little Library Book Bag scheme, which gives starting school children a bag of books and reading material to take home. Places are limited at every branch and booking is essential, so ring ahead rather than turning up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Ardee Library runs at 10:15am, Drogheda Library at 12pm, and Dunleer Library at 2pm, which means a family could in theory catch a different branch if their local session is full.
Drogheda Library is on Stockwell Street in the town centre beside Droichead Arts Centre, with Scotch Hall parking nearby and easy access from junctions 9 and 10 of the M1. Ardee Library is in the centre of Ardee at the meeting of the N2 and N52, with on street and public parking close by and Bus Eireann services stopping in the town. Dunleer Library is on the main street of Dunleer, a short detour from junction 13 of the M1 between Drogheda and Dundalk.
