Droichead Youth Theatre opens its autumn and winter term in September with four separate groups by school year. Weekly workshops cover improvisation, ensemble work, movement, games and text, with trips, projects and performance or design opportunities across the year.
DYT Juniors takes 6th class and 1st year students on Fridays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Barlow House, starting 11 September and running to 18 December. Teenbetweens is for 2nd and 3rd year students, Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Barbican Parochial Centre, from 12 September to 19 December. Senior 1 covers 4th to 6th year, Fridays 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM from 11 September, and that group is working towards a spring 2027 production of Girls Like That by Evan Placey, with members able to take on acting, directing, lighting, set design or other production roles. Senior 2 begins on 12 September. Senior 1 is funded through the Arts Council Young Ensembles Scheme and members should expect extra rehearsals during midterm breaks.
Droichead Youth Theatre uses two buildings in Drogheda town centre. Barlow House is on Narrow West Street at the western end of the main street, and the Barbican Parochial Centre is beside the arts centre on Stockwell Street. Drivers from Dublin, Dundalk or Navan leave the M1 at junction 9 or 10 and follow the town centre signs. Parking is available at Scotch Hall and the Laurence Shopping Centre, with on-street spaces on Narrow West Street and Stockwell Street. Drogheda MacBride railway station is about 15 minutes on foot, and Bus Éireann and Matthews coaches stop on the Dublin Road and at the Donore Road bus station.
