What to Expect

Feile na Samhna runs at Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre in Keenagh from 21 October to 1 November 2026, covering the school midterm break and the Halloween weekend itself. Corlea is the site of the largest Iron Age bog road found in Europe, an oak trackway laid across the bog in 148 BC, and an 18 metre stretch of the original timber is preserved indoors in a humidified hall. Holding a Samhain festival on that spot puts the seasonal customs back beside genuinely ancient material rather than a decorated backdrop.

The Office of Public Works runs the site through Heritage Ireland, and the festival is billed as family friendly with activities and entertainment suitable for all ages. Getting There

Keenagh is about 14km south of Longford town. Take the N63 or the R397 south from Longford towards Keenagh, then follow the brown heritage signs for Corlea Trackway, which sits about 3km outside the village on the bog road. Coming from Athlone, take the N55 north to Ballymahon and then the R392 and local roads north to Keenagh, roughly 40km. There is free on-site parking at the visitor centre. There is no scheduled bus to the site, so drive or take a taxi from Longford town.
