What to Expect

Millennium Court Arts Centre in Portadown runs a Halloween themed ceramics workshop for children, led by tutor Rachel. Over two hours, participants shape and decorate two pumpkins each from air-dry clay, then paint them in whatever colours and patterns they like, from traditional orange and black to something more inventive. The session suits children aged 8 to 15 and no previous experience with clay or ceramics is needed, with all materials supplied as part of the ticket price.

It is a hands-on, seasonal alternative to the usual after-school activity, timed to give children a finished Halloween decoration to take home in the run up to 31 October. Millennium Court is Portadown’s dedicated arts venue, running a regular programme of exhibitions, classes and workshops for both adults and children through the year, and this session is one of its October additions built specifically around the Halloween season. Air-dry clay is used rather than kiln-fired ceramics, which means the pumpkins are ready to paint and take home the same afternoon rather than needing a second visit for glazing or firing.
