At Lough Ree Distillery · Main Street, Lanesborough, Co. Longford
Lough Ree Distillery is a family-run microdistillery on Main Street in Lanesborough, on the Longford bank of the Shannon. The Clancy family started distilling gin and vodka here in 2018 and laid down their first Irish whiskey in 2022, so a visit takes in a working production floor rather than a purpose-built visitor attraction. The entry experience is the Distillery Tour and Tasting, from €15, which walks a group through the micro distillery and finishes with a tasting of the Sling Shot gin, the Zesty vodka and Barts Irish whiskey.
Two seated tastings run above that, both from €25. The Exclusive Whiskey Tasting is a flight of six, taking in the Bridge series and Bart’s blend, which the founders created in tribute to their late father. The Exclusive Gin and Vodka Tasting works through the gin and vodka range with Sling Shot at its centre. Groups can also build a bespoke visit from €30, which the distillery describes as a tasting experience crafted to suit your group size, location, schedule and budget.
Lanesborough is on the N63 between Longford town and Roscommon town, about 20km southwest of Longford, at the northern tip of Lough Ree. The distillery is on Main Street in the village with parking nearby. From Dublin, take the N4 to Longford then the N63, around two hours. The nearest railway station is Longford on the Dublin Heuston to Sligo line, with a taxi or lift needed for the last stretch, so plan transport in advance for a tasting visit.
