What to Expect

Edgeworthstown Library runs a Warhammer miniature painting workshop on Tuesday 18 August 2026, from 6pm to 7pm. The Longford Libraries calendar lists this session for ages 15 and up, free of charge, with registration required in advance. It follows an earlier session at the same branch aimed at younger teenagers, so the August evening slot is the one for older participants and adults.

Warhammer is a tabletop wargame built around collecting and painting small plastic figures, and the workshop takes the painting side and treats it on its own. There is no need to know the game’s rules or to own a collection. A tutor works the group through the basics on a single miniature: base coating, building up layers, and picking out detail with a fine brush. Materials are supplied, and the finished figure goes home. The hour is pitched at people who have never painted a miniature rather than at experienced hobby painters, and the small group size is why places have to be booked. Edgeworthstown Library has built a run of evening and weekend sessions for teenagers and adults around its children’s programme, including Mario Kart tournaments for two separate age bands and a monthly photography club, and this workshop sits in that strand.

Getting There

Edgeworthstown Library is on Main Street in the town centre, off the N4 Dublin to Sligo road, roughly fifteen minutes north-east of Longford town by car. Edgeworthstown railway station on the Dublin to Sligo line is five minutes’ walk from the library. There is on-street parking on Main Street and a car park close by.
