What to Expect

Edgeworthstown Library sets aside two hours on Saturdays for children to bring their Pokemon and football card collections and trade with each other. The session runs from 12pm to 2pm in the branch’s events room and is listed on the Longford Libraries calendar as free, all ages, with no registration required. Confirmed dates in the current run are Saturday 15 August and Saturday 22 August 2026.

There is no set format beyond the swap itself. Children spread their cards across the tables, compare collections and trade, and the session works for a beginner with a handful of loose cards as well as for someone with a full binder. Parents can stay or drop off older children, and because it is a drop-in rather than a booked workshop there is nothing to reserve and nothing to pay. It is a useful fallback for a wet Saturday and it sits alongside the branch’s wider programme, which through August has included Wednesday movie afternoons, giant games sessions, a pencil drawing workshop, Mario Kart tournaments and a children’s photography session. Summer storytime for ages 4 to 8 runs at 11am on 15 August, immediately before the swap, so a family can make a morning of both.

Getting There

Edgeworthstown Library is on Main Street in the town centre, just off the N4 Dublin to Sligo road, about fifteen minutes north-east of Longford town by car. Edgeworthstown railway station on the Dublin to Sligo line is a five-minute walk away, with services in both directions through the day, and there is on-street parking on Main Street.
