At The Organic Centre · Rossinver, Co. Leitrim, F91 H978
Finn Melia, who teaches as Fungi Finn, runs a full-day wild mushroom foraging course at The Organic Centre in Rossinver three times this autumn: Sunday 6 September, Sunday 20 September and Sunday 11 October 2026. Each runs from 10am to 4pm and costs €90. The day opens with tea and coffee on arrival, followed by a classroom session on how mushrooms grow, how to identify them and what to watch for when gathering.
The group then heads into nearby woodland for the practical half of the day, learning to find and harvest wild mushrooms responsibly for the kitchen. Bring clothing and footwear for whatever the weather is doing, a small sharp knife and a basket for what you collect. Plastic bags are not allowed, since they spoil specimens and stop spores dropping as you walk. Lunch is not included, so pack your own. Autumn is the working season for this course, which is why the centre schedules three separate dates rather than one, and each date is booked individually through the centre’s online shop.
The Organic Centre sits at Rossinver in north Leitrim, near Lough Melvin, signposted from the R281 and R282. Bus services to Rossinver are sparse, so driving or arranging a lift is the realistic way to make a 10am start.
