What to Expect

Little Folk: On The Road is a Saturday morning family concert built for 2 to 7-year-olds and the adults who come with them. Kyle Riley performs award-winning children’s music and sing-along songs, and The Dock describes the hour as a foot stomping, hand clapping and jumping good time, which sets expectations correctly: this is a show where the audience is meant to join in rather than sit still.

The concert runs 60 minutes, short enough to hold the attention of the younger end of the age range. Every child goes home with a musical goody bag afterwards. Because the ticket price applies per person, adult or child, families should count everyone attending when booking rather than assuming accompanying adults go free. Getting There

The Dock is housed in the old courthouse on St George’s Terrace, in the centre of Carrick-on-Shannon beside the bridge over the Shannon and a two-minute walk from Main Street. The town is on the N4 Dublin to Sligo road, roughly two hours from Dublin and forty minutes from Sligo. Carrick-on-Shannon railway station sits on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo line within easy walking distance, and Bus Eireann’s Dublin to Sligo coaches stop in the town. Public parking is available at the Market Yard Centre and along the riverside quays, both a short walk away, and Saturday mornings are the busiest time in town so allow a few extra minutes for parking.
