At The Moat Theatre · Abbey Road, Naas, Co. Kildare
The Moat Theatre in Naas puts on Jackula, a Halloween show for children, on Wednesday 28 October 2026 at 1pm. It lands squarely in the October midterm break, which makes it a useful fixed point in a week that otherwise needs filling. The show is aimed at children aged 4 to 12 and runs for roughly 80 minutes, finishing around 2pm.
Jackula is Dracula’s younger brother, and the show follows his attempt to become the world’s first fun vampire. The staging leans on magic and juggling with a heavy dose of audience participation, so children near the front should expect to be brought into it. Jackula’s pet ghost turns up, there is a big dance number, and at one point he balances a stack of five glasses of water on his face. Children are brought on to perform tricks of their own, and there are treats afterwards. It is built for laughs rather than scares, which matters if you have a four or five year old who is enthusiastic about Halloween in theory but less so in a dark room. Costumes are common at Halloween shows and there is nothing stopping children turning up in fancy dress. Ticket prices had not been released when the listing was last checked; the Moat page takes sign-ups to be notified when tickets go on sale.
The Moat Theatre sits on Abbey Road in the middle of Naas, a couple of minutes from Main Street. Drivers should leave the M7 at junction 9 or junction 10 and follow the town centre signs; the public car parks off Main Street and at the Fairgreen are the closest, and a lunchtime show means paid parking hours still apply. Sallins and Naas station on the Dublin Heuston to Kildare line is about 10 minutes away by road, with local bus links and taxis into the town centre.
