Toddler Storytime, Art and Craft at Gorey Library

At Gorey Library · Civic Square, Gorey, Co. Wexford

Toddlers doing a craft activity at a library table

What to Expect

Gorey Library runs Toddler Storytime with art and craft every Tuesday at 11am at the library in Civic Square. It is aimed at children aged 2 to 4, it is free, and no booking is required.

The format pairs a story read aloud with a simple making activity afterwards, which is a better fit for two to four year olds than either one on its own. A toddler who will not sit through a whole picture book will often stay for it if there is glue and paper waiting at the end, and the craft gives the story somewhere to go. Materials are provided by the library. Sessions are led by library staff and run informally, with parents and carers staying with their children throughout.

Gorey has one of the busier children’s programmes in the county service. Alongside the Tuesday toddler session there is Baby Rhymetime for ages 0 to 2 on Thursday mornings at 10.30am, and the Page Turners junior book club for ages 9 to 12 on the last Tuesday of the month at 3.30pm. Between them the branch covers babies through to pre-teens.

Getting There

Gorey Library is in Civic Square, off Esmonde Street in the centre of Gorey, alongside the municipal district offices. Drivers coming from Dublin or Wexford leave the M11 at the Gorey junctions and follow signs for the town centre, with public parking in and around Civic Square and off Esmonde Street. It is a two or three minute walk from Main Street, and the approach is flat, which helps with buggies. Gorey railway station on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line is about ten minutes on foot. Wexford Bus and Bus Eireann services on the Dublin to Wexford corridor stop on Main Street.
