Page Turners Junior Book Club at Gorey Library

What to Expect

Page Turners is Gorey Library’s book club for readers aged 9 to 12. It meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 3.30pm at the library in Civic Square, and no booking is required, so a child can simply turn up on the day. The next meeting in the autumn term is Tuesday 29 September 2026.

The 9 to 12 bracket is the age at which a lot of children either lock into reading for life or drift away from it, and library book clubs are aimed squarely at that. The group talks about what it has been reading, swaps recommendations, and gets first sight of new titles coming into the children’s collection. Because it is a drop-in rather than a registered group, a child can come to one meeting, decide it is not for them, and come back three months later without any awkwardness.

The 3.30pm start is set for straight after school, which makes it workable for children walking up from the primary schools around Gorey. Parents are welcome to stay in the library while the group runs. Gorey Library also runs a toddler storytime with art and craft on Tuesday mornings and a baby rhymetime on Thursday mornings, so the branch has children’s programming across the week.
