What to Expect

The Underlines is Enniscorthy Library’s young adult book club for readers aged 13 to 16. It meets on the last Friday of every month at 3.30pm at the library on Lymington Road, it is free, and no booking is required. The next meeting in the autumn term is Friday 25 September 2026.

Young adult fiction has become one of the strongest sections in Irish public libraries, and a monthly group gives teenagers a reason to work through it rather than drifting back to whatever the algorithm serves them. The session runs as a discussion led by library staff, with members putting forward titles for the group to read and swapping recommendations across genres. Turning up without having finished the book is normal and does not exclude anyone from the conversation.

The Friday afternoon slot lands at the end of the school week, which suits teenagers coming straight from the secondary schools in and around Enniscorthy. Because the group is drop-in rather than registered, there is no commitment involved in trying it once. Readers who are younger than thirteen can join The Cliffhangers at the same branch, which meets on the last Thursday of the month.

Getting There

Enniscorthy Library is on Lymington Road, a few minutes’ walk from Market Square in the centre of town. Drivers leave the M11 at the Enniscorthy junctions and follow town centre signs, with public parking around Abbey Square and the town centre car parks. Enniscorthy railway station is on the Templeshannon side of the Slaney, roughly fifteen minutes on foot, and sits on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line. Wexford Bus and Bus Eireann services on the Dublin to Wexford corridor stop in the town centre, and school buses finish nearby, which makes the Friday timing straightforward for teenagers travelling in from outside the town.
