The Cliffhangers Book Club at Enniscorthy Library

At Enniscorthy Library · Lymington Road, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford

Children's books stacked on a table in a public library

What to Expect

The Cliffhangers is Enniscorthy Library’s book club for readers aged 8 to 12, meeting on the last Thursday of every month at 3.30pm at the library on Lymington Road. It is free and no booking is required. The next meeting in the autumn term falls on Thursday 24 September 2026.

The group is a drop-in, which changes how it feels. Children come when a title interests them or when a friend is going, rather than signing up for a term. Library staff run the session, and the hour is spent talking about what the group has been reading, arguing about endings and characters, and picking what to read next. Reading the full book beforehand is not a condition of joining in, which is deliberate. For a lot of children at this age, hearing other children talk about a book is what gets them to pick it up.

Enniscorthy Library also runs a weekly Rhyme Time on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am, and a young adult group, The Underlines, meets on the last Friday of the month, so children who age out of the Cliffhangers have somewhere to move on to within the same branch.

Drivers coming on the M11 leave at the Enniscorthy junctions and follow signs for the town centre, with public parking on Abbey Square and in the town centre car parks. Enniscorthy railway station is across the river on the Templeshannon side, about fifteen minutes on foot, on the Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort line. Wexford Bus and Bus Eireann services on the Dublin to Wexford route stop in the town centre, which suits children coming in from Bunclody or the surrounding villages.
