What to Expect

The Athletic Academy runs a summer camp at St Augustine’s College in Abbeyside from Monday 17 to Friday 21 August 2026, with sessions each day from 10am to 2pm. The camp is built around athletics skills and outdoor activity. Organiser Kate Veale is a Dungarvan race walker who represented Ireland at world and European level, so the coaching side has a genuine athletics background behind it. St Augustine’s College has extensive grounds and facilities in Abbeyside, which gives the camp room to run properly rather than working around a small yard. Children should bring runners, a rain jacket, a packed lunch and a full water bottle, and sun cream if the forecast is kind. Getting There

St Augustine’s College is in Abbeyside, on the eastern side of Dungarvan across the Colligan estuary from the town centre, about a ten-minute walk from Grattan Square over the causeway. Local Link and Bus Eireann services stop in Dungarvan town, and the N25 runs straight past the town for anyone driving from Waterford city or Youghal. There is parking on the college grounds and on the surrounding roads in Abbeyside. Drop-off and collection times of 10am and 2pm sit outside the busiest traffic on the causeway, and the Waterford Greenway trailhead at Dungarvan is close by for anyone cycling in.
