The Drawing Room Opera Company brings its Christmas show, The Magic and Music of Christmas, to the dlr Mill Theatre in Dundrum on Friday 4 December 2026, with an expanded cast for this year’s run. It suits anyone after a festive night out with a musical edge, rather than a straight concert or a pantomime.
The two-hour programme mixes popular opera selections with modern Christmas classics, described by the company as a wonderfully produced show with carol sections woven through the evening. The Drawing Room Opera Company is known locally for bringing accessible, entertaining opera to smaller venues rather than grand houses, and this Christmas show leans into humour as much as musicianship, aiming for an evening that works for opera newcomers as well as regular fans. With an expanded cast for 2026, the show promises a fuller sound than previous years’ versions at the venue. It runs in the Mill Theatre’s main auditorium, giving the singers proper acoustics and staging for the evening. The theatre’s own name nods to Dundrum’s mill history along the River Dodder, which once powered a string of paper and textile mills through the valley before the area redeveloped into the shopping centre and suburb it is today.
The dlr Mill Theatre is inside Dundrum Town Centre, Dundrum, Dublin 16, directly served by the Luas Green Line’s Dundrum stop. Dublin Bus routes also serve Dundrum, and the Town Centre has extensive multi-storey parking.
